Land O’ Lakes, FL – (September 10, 2017) – Pasco County Schools shelters are locked down and secured. Everyone should be inside. No one will be turned away, but many shelters are at capacity and placing evacuees in non—hurricane-hardened spaces. Citizens who plan to evacuate, do it NOW.
There no longer is public transportation available in Pasco County to transport people to shelters. Evacuees must be able to transport themselves or should seek shelter in their homes in interior rooms away from windows.
Schools with the most available space include Sanders, Odessa, Connerton, Pine View, Oakstead, Odessa, and Veterans elementary schools. Click here for addresses.
Shelters previously announced as at capacity include: Longleaf and Schrader elementary schools; R.B. Stewart Middle School; and Fivay, Mitchell, River Ridge, Wesley Chapel, and Wiregrass Ranch (general population) high schools. These schools will accept evacuees, but we encourage people to report to schools that still have capacity.
The hurricane shelters located at Connerton, Oakstead, Pine View, and Sanders elementary schools and Mitchell High School have reached capacity for pets.
