Wesley Chapel Elementary Team Wins World OM Championship

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (May 30, 2017) – Wesley Chapel Elementary School’s Odyssey of the Mind team outperformed 55 other teams to win the Division 1 World Championship for their solution to the Catch Us if You Can problem! All four Pasco County Schools Odyssey of the Mind teams competing in the World Finals at Michigan State University this past weekend finished in the top 25 in the world in their problems and divisions. The team from Seven Springs Middle School placed sixth in Division 2 of To Be Continued: A Superhero Cliffhanger. Mittye P. Locke Elementary School’s team placed 23rd in the same category and division as Wesley Chapel. Dayspring Academy placed 14th in Catch Us if You Can, Division 2. The Wesley Chapel coaches are Veronica Acosta and Janet Heyman, both teachers at the school.  The team scored a total of 340.62 points, which is 22.55 points higher than the second place team.  For more information about Odyssey of the Mind or the World Finals, visit https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/wf2017/2017-world-finals/.
