Land O’ Lakes, FL – (December 16, 2016) – The Pasco County Schools graduation rate increased half a percentage point in 2016, rising from 78.6 percent to 79.1 percent.
The district’s virtual school, Pasco eSchool, recorded a 100 percent graduation rate, up from 96.8 percent in 2015. Half of the district’s high schools improved their graduation rates, with Ridgewood High School seeing the greatest increase, rising 11 percentage points from 63.3 percent in 2015 to 74.3 percent in 2016. Gulf High School increased their grad rate by 4.2 percentage points and Anclote High School increase their grad rate by 4.1 percentage points.
“We’re moving in the right direction,” said Superintendent Kurt Browning. “We didn’t quite make our goal of 80 percent, but I’m pleased to see improvement, especially at those schools that increased their rates by two percentage points or more.”
The graduation rate for at-risk students increased by more than 10 percentage points, moving from 50.2 percent in 2015 to 60.6 percent in 2016. The rate for students with disabilities improved by almost four percentage points, from 56.8 percent in 2015 to 60.6 percent in 2016, and the rate for English language learners rose by more than two percentage points, from 57.1 percent to 59.4 percent.
