What: Farm to School breakfast and program

Where: Richey Elementary School, 6850 Adams St., New Port Richey
Why: October is National Farm to School Month, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Florida Poultry Federation are helping Pasco County Schools promote egg nutrition in district schools.
How: The district’s Food and Nutrition Services department has partnered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and the Florida Poultry Federation to host a special breakfast at Richey Elementary School. Senator Wilton Simpson of Simpson Farms, Inc. will join students for breakfast then talk to K-2 students about poultry farming, how an egg gets from farm to table, and the importance of agriculture to Pasco County’s and Florida’s economy. The department has created education pieces for Richey students that show why eggs are nutritious and breakfast is important.
