Land O’ Lakes, FL – (December 20, 2017) – Pasco County Schools is excited about Dade City’s inaugural "Shop with a Cop" program for community families. The program is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, starting and ending at the Dade City Police Department (DCPD), with a trip to Walmart in between. The students will arrive at the DCPD and meet the Dade City Youth Council (DCYC) member and police officer they are paired with for the afternoon. After the meeting, they will head to the Dade City Walmart for their $100 shopping spree. Each child will purchase gifts for their family members and a small trinket for themselves. The students and officers will return to the DCPD after shopping to have their presents wrapped by the DCYC. This will be followed by pizza party, a surprise visit from Santa Claus, and a photo opportunity to commemorate their day with the officers and youth council members. “Thanks to the support from the DCPD and community members, we will be celebrating the holiday season with the students today,” said Dade City Mayor Camille Hernandez. “I can’t thank Mayor Hernandez and the Dade City Police Department enough for their efforts to ensure that our families in need have gifts under their trees,” said Pasco Schools Superintendent Kurt Browning. The DCPD is located at 38030 Meridian Ave., in Dade City, and the Dade City Walmart is located at 12650 US-301, in Dade City.
