Land O’ Lakes, FL – (October 6, 2016) – Superintendent Kurt Browning announces that all Pasco County public schools will be closed on Friday, October 7, due to the high probability that at lease Dade City and Zephyrhills will experience sustained winds of 40 miles per hour or higher during the day.  This includes the PLACE child care program. All after school activities scheduled for Friday also are canceled, including homecoming football games.  At this time, we expect homecoming dances on Saturday will still take place.   Anything planned for after school today still can take place.  We don’t anticipate storm-force winds until late tonight. We are hopeful that we will not have to make up this hurricane day.  If we do have to make it up, we will notify parents and staff when that decision has been made. Under state law, school buses cannot be on the roads if winds exceed 40 miles per hour. “I didn’t want to have to make this decision, but in the interest of safety, I believe this is the right thing to do,” said Superintendent Browning.
