The mobile clay wheel bus was provided by the Janet Huntley Grant through the Pinellas Community Foundation and is making its first visit to a Pasco County school. The bus’s 10 electric potter’s wheels are fueled by their own water supply and powered by an onboard generator. Half of the participants will construct clay artwork inside the bus, while those outside the bus can hand-build clay artwork with manual potter’s wheels. The entire Art Club, comprised of 21 students in grade 4 and 5, is expected to participate. Additionally, approximately 30 grade 1, 2, 3, 4 and ESE teachers will participate in a team building exercise following the student visit.. The Florida Alliance for Arts Education (FAAE) recently recognized Longleaf Elementary as a Florida Arts Model Schools. Longleaf was recognized for both its music and arts programs.
