When: 8 a.m. Saturday, October 25
Why: Sunray is the first Florida chapter of Run Hard, an 8-week program designed primarily for young boys, to build physical endurance and character. The first 8 weeks will be completed on October 23, so October 25 was chosen for the culminating 5K.
How: Run Hard is an organization based in Lexington, South Carolina, that develops after-school running programs for boys. Sunray’s Run Hard program started in September of this year with 15 boys and intends to have a spring season, since the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The runners meet twice a week from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. The 5K is open to the community, with each participant earning a t-shirt and finisher's medal. A promotional video for the 5K is attached.
