Land O’ Lakes, FL – (December 17, 2013) – Pine View Middle School physical education coaches launched a new 5K Club this school year, with a goal of signing up 50 students to participate by the end of first semester.  Tomorrow, December 18, at 8:30 a.m., 58 student runners will gather for a group photo, and during each class period throughout the day, students will take part in a holiday Reindeer Run around the mile-long path that surrounds the school. Students must prove that they can run three miles in 30 minutes or less to earn a spot in the 'club', a t-shirt, and a Subway lunch at the end of each month.  They run a mile every Wednesday, and many club members have become avid runners.  The PE teachers have a saying, “PVMS, a place where students work to learn and become a little healthier day by day.”  The 5K Club is making 58 PVMS students healthier day by day. For more information, contact Melissa Woodroffe, PE teacher at PVMS, at mmcmaste@pasco.k12.fl.us, or 813-794-4870.  Pine View is located at 5334 Parkway Blvd., Land O’ Lakes.
